Braces Are Available for Many People
Did you know that you can get braces as an adult—or a teen? Though the younger you are, the more likely you are to get the best results in the shortest amount of time, most people will be able to get braces that improve their smile.
It is important that your teeth and gums be healthy enough for braces – if there are concerns here, we’ll work to tackle those first. If you have a recession of your gums or any type of bone loss here, that may not allow for braces to work well.

Turning to an Orthodontist Is Best
An orthodontist will work closely with you to ensure you get the best options in braces. Keep in mind that our training is more advanced and we have more techniques available than what you may find at your dentist itself. Orthodontists receive training in jaw function, tooth movement, and advanced methods for correctly problems.
You should choose an orthodontist when you are seeking a professional who can help you with alignment, movement, jaw problems, and more invasive procedures. And, be sure you choose a Board Certified Orthodontist to ensure you are getting a true professional.
You Should Consider Braces as an Adult
There are many reasons to get braces now that you are an adult. You may want to improve your smile and your dental health. Perhaps your parents did not do this previously because of cost. That’s okay, you may benefit from braces now – even if you wore them as a child and did not see benefits.
Braces Are Beneficial for Alignment and Aesthetics
Getting braces is not just about improving your appearance—though they’ll no doubt improve your smile! Braces also help improve your oral hygiene, including your bite.
When you come in for an evaluation, we will look closely at your bite. If the top and bottom teeth do not align properly, that’s an important thing to fix because it determines how well your mouth functions. Not fixing it may lead to complications with chewing, pain from headaches, and conditions such as TMJ.
Braces Don’t Have to Break the Bank
Costs for adult or teen braces can range significantly and are based on many factors, including the type of braces used and how extensive your care needs. Typically, braces range from $3,000 to $6,000 for a full course of treatment, though other, more affordable options may be available depending on your current condition and your goals. For example, Invisalign can be a lower-cost alternative—however, it’s not suitable for all patients.
Keep in mind, most dental insurance plans cover some or all orthodontic treatments. That paired with payment plans to cover additional costs can make even higher-priced treatments manageable for families.

There Are Numerous Bracket Options
It is not always the case that you will qualify for Invisalign, though many people hope to. Remember, this type of treatment works in only some situations. When it applies to you, we’ll offer it.
Along the same lines, you should not feel as though your braces are going to have to be metal. That is not the case even with traditional braces. New products are hard to seen and can offer a better result for many people. It’s important to work with your orthodontist to choose the right types of braces for your needs.
